Baby ajumma

This is the perfect opportunity to share with you one very strange custom in Korea. Apparently, as in many parts of the world, dark skin is associated with lower socio-economic levels. In other words, if you have dark skin, you're a peasant. As a result, any time of year that the sun is shining, you'll see many, many women wearing what we call "ajumma helmets." Ajumma headwear can range from hats with large brims and scarves, to the more typical enormous transparent visor that is worn pulled all the way down over the face, like a welder's mask. Sometimes they even wear a cloth mask, similar to a insulating mask a person in Oregon might wear skiing, and gloves, so that no piece of skin is exposed.

They look like something out of Road Warrior. Scary.

Well, I figure its probably not a bad habit to take up, protecting oneself from the sun, especially when one has fair skin. So I'm thinking of getting one for Vivian. This one she borrowed from her friend Aidan. What do you think?
