Almost Lunar New Year

Today is the last school day before the Lunar New Year celebration and official week-long holiday next week. To mark the occasion with fashion, Vivian wore her new Spring Festival (aka New Year) outfit to school today. It is made from heavy cotton canvas-type material, is lined in warm polar fleece, and is decorated with applique using transluscent, iridescent organza-type fabric. It is trimmed with fur around the collar, and closes with frogs. Wow, its something else. Good thing its warm because the high today is supposed to be around 20F.
Anyone else humming "Little China Girl" by David Bowie right now?

We also went to the hair cutter yesterday to do something about Vivian's hair. We have a little problem, which is that her baby curls have turned into toddler nappiness. It is really a not good situation. Here's an example of typical morning bedhead:

That one's for you, Jim Ariail.
My solution was to get her a cute little bob that's way shorter in the back than in the front. She still has nappy-head in the morning, but at least its short!

That outfit is adorable!
I read in the paper yesterday that the China gov. had sensored Obama's speech. I thought of you Kiley and sent you sunny warm vibes.
