Hug Shiru (Duck restaurant)

Vivian and I ate at our favorite restaurant with friends last weekend (Bruce didn't go because he's in the U.S. right now). Its a restaurant that serves duck, duck, and more duck. Quack Quack! I didn't know I liked duck till eating here. The duck is whole and is stuffed with a mixture of rice, grains, seeds, and dried fruit, before being roasted in a clay pot till it falls apart. Its the closest thing to American Thanksgiving that we get here. The amazing thing about Korean meals are the side dishes: Just look at this table!

Also pictured is sliced cold smoked duck (center) and pumpkin stuffed with the same stuffing as the duck.

It is really fun to go to this restaurant. Its a replica of a Korean village, with small huts that serve as private dining rooms (which is great when you have little kids because they can't bother anyone else!). Vivian likes to run around on the grounds. There is so much to see and so many people to visit!

The next photos are from an earlier visit to the same restaurant with different friends. Check out the mud huts:

And check out the giant stoneware pots along the right hand side: those are the pots that kimchi is made in.
