A Stroll in the Park

This past Sunday, we decided to get out of the house and visit one of the nearby parks, despite somewhat threatening weather. We got out the tourist map to make sure we knew the way and set out on foot (and buggy). After an uneventful hour of walking later, we arrived at Daechon Park. Daechon Park has an ampitheater, play areas for the kiddies, a Buddhist temple, and hiking trails up to a nearby peak. Here are a few shots from the outing.

Pines seem to be the most abundant native tree in these parts. I'm not sure, but I suspect, that these pines along the walkway in the park have had some help attaining their lovely lobular shape. I really like these trees here; they have a serenity about them that appeals to me.

We passed a scrappy little creek that might have more going for it (and running through it) during a rainier season. Its pretty dry here right now, its only rained a couple of times since I've been here.


Kiley and Vivian resting in front of the forest temple. We wanted to go closer to the temple, but weren't sure whether that was ok or whether we'd be committing a faux pas. There was music playing and we could hear chanting, and we couldn't read the signs outside, so rather than offend we kept our distance.

Near the entrance, the park has several public spaces like an amphitheater and a reservoir. This art installation fronts the reservoir and seems to be of the typical, ultra-modern style.

It was a long outing. Vivian is ready to home and out of that silly pink fuzzy suit!!!
