Holiday on the beach

Last Sunday we struck out on our usual walk and discovered a festive event taking place on the beach. There were hundreds of kites in flight, beach sand sculptors, traditional Korean dancing and drumming troupes, and, for the brave and vigorous, "polar bear" swimming in the winter ocean. We learned later the event was a holiday commemorating the first full moon of the new year. Here are some sights from the event:
