Jeongwol Daeboreum

Today is Jeongwol Daeboreum, the Full Moon Festival. Its an important day in traditional Korena culture, the day you view the first full moon of the lunar new year and hope for luck and health in the coming year. We went to our third Full Mon Festival today - our third!!! Hard to believe we're already in our third year in Korea.

We live right next to the center of the festival action. At dusk an enormous bonfire is lit in the Dal-cheep (the moon home). Prior to that, throughout the day, people make offerings of fruit on the beach, tend lit candles (quite a feat in the winter wind), play traditional games, dance, and play drums.
