A week in Sisters

Despite the threatening forest fires burning in the Sisters area, we decided to head over on July 29 as planned to begin our week-long vacation . As we arrived in Sisters, we got caught in the traffic jam caused by the evacuation of a community just outside of town. It didn't seem like an auspicious start to the trip. Here's a view of the smoke from the forest fire at sunset. This is taken right across the street from the house we rented.

Other than a little smoky air, we had a great trip. We did a lot of next to nothing. We visited with family from both sides (including Henry!), strolled to the coffee shop every morning for a little pick-me-up...

...visited friends, and of course, played with Vivian. We set up a splash pool in the back yard for Vivi, but it was only warm enough to play on a couple of occasions.

We hiked up Black Butte to get a look at the fire from above.

Henry enjoyed the hike. He needed the exercise as he's getting a little soft in his comfortable new home with Walt and Sally.

We did a little horsing around with the nephews and their gals.

Vivian got to spend a little time getting to know her family in the U.S. Here she is with Grandpa Walt.
